Northwest Shooter Range Rules

Essential Safety Rules

To ensure everyone’s safety, please adhere to the following rules:

  • Drug, alcohol, and tobacco use is strictly prohibited. We do not allow tobacco products of any kind in the range, including chewing tobacco.
  • Eye and ear protection must be worn at all times in the range, even when you are not shooting.
  • All rental guns entering or leaving range area must be unloaded with actions open.
  • Personal firearms must be unloaded and in a case, (or concealed with current carry permit). Please do not handle any firearm in the lobby.
  • Gun muzzles should be pointed downrange at all times and never higher than the target. Guns must remain in the shooting stall and not at the back wall. Do not transfer guns between shooting stalls. If sharing, people must move, not firearms.
  • Un-aimed and uncontrolled fire is strictly prohibited. This includes intentional or unintentional fire at non-target objects. Any shot striking an overhead baffle could result in a $10 fine. Please report baffle strikes or risk losing range privileges.
  • Handgun caliber ammunition only, 2000 ft per sec max velocity. No .480 or .454 Casul, .460, 5.7 x 28mm or .500S&W without prior permission by range personnel every time you shoot.
  • Only full metal jacket (FMJ), total metal jacket (TMJ), jacketed hollow point (JHP), or jacketed soft point (JSP) allowed. No lead or cast bullets may be fired, with the exception of 22 caliber rim-fire. If using a rental gun, range ammo must be used.
  • Only one person may fire from the shooting stall at a time. You may share, but please take turns.
  • Never cross the firing line! All brass is the property of the range unless you specify that you are collecting your own brass. . Brass that goes forward of the red line is ours, no exceptions.
  • Please push all brass forward under the bench with brooms provided, and dispose of all debris.
  • No food or beverages allowed on the range..
  • When using the range entry, please close the first door before opening the second. This keeps range noise out of the lobby.
  • Observe range employee instructions without hesitation. They are here to insure your safety.
  • Northwest Shooter Indoor Range has a basic policy that is the cornerstone of our safety guarantee to you and your family. No customer is allowed to handle a firearm, except when they are on the range and at their assigned shooting position.
  • It is the responsibility of all shooters, as well as employees, to maintain a safe environment. If you see something that needs attention, please tell a NWS employee immediately.
  • All shooters should obey the basic tenets of firearms safety.
    • Treat all guns as if they are loaded.
    • Never point a gun at anything you do not want to shoot.
    • Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on your target and you are ready to shoot.
    • Know your target and the backstop beyond.
  • Kids under 18 may only shoot 22 rim-fire rifles. Exception: 14-18 years of age may shoot handguns if a Basic Handgun Safety Class has been completed and approval has been given by a NWS employee. A parent or guardian must accompany any minor in the range.
  • Range employees have unquestionable authority regarding the operation of the range.
  • Refer to range employees with any questions. We are here to make your shooting experience a pleasant one.
  • Remember to wash your hands after shooting. Components of ammunition contain lead.
  • Drawing from a holster is not allowed unless specific permission has been granted by Northwest Shooter Indoor Range. (NWSIR)

PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE RULES: We reserve the right to remove individuals from the premises due to any violation of the above rules. We also reserve the right to revoke lifetime privileges at our facilities if deemed necessary.
